Posted on 21:04 by mabrouk

Tunisia - Montenegro (27-25)
Tunisia win to qualify for the last 16. Tunisia qualified for the last 16 after capitalizing at key moments against Montenegro. In a bad day for the two Tunisian back players, the centre Ban Salah saved his team with an incredible second half. The Montenegrins were defeating the Tunisians in the first half after going three goals ahead (8-11, 27th minute). The Africans defence fell apart in front of Melic in the wing and nor could they stop the back Sevaljevic. Between the two they scored 9 of the 11 goals for Montenegro. The success of Magaiez in goal stopped the Balkans from getting too close to the lead however thanks to a partial of 0-3 the Montenegrins managed to level the match at break (11-11). The Tunisians were harder in defence after half-time and thanks to counterattacks they distanced themselves by three goals (18-15, 42nd minute). Montenegro reacted through the hands of Vujovic to equalize the meeting (19-19, 50th minute) but between Bannour and Tej they closed off the match (26-24, 39th minute)
THE FACT: Ban Salah scored 5/7 throws from 9 metres in the second half where Tunisia played the better handball.
STATEMENTS
Alain Portes (Tunisian head coach): "Tonight we are very happy to have won this match. Montenegro showed a very good tactical match and they had a good defense. This match could have been won by both teams. They can win the last two games if they keep up with the structure of their game. We have to pay the victory with the loss of one of our players who broke a finger. We have not reached the same level of our play due to the tiredness and the good defense of our opponent. We are happy that we had the strength to find the energy to win match during the last minutes."
Abdelhak Ben Salah (Tunisia): "I think as my coach. It was a hard game and we made the difference in last minutes. Now we are looking forward to the next match."
Zoran Kastratovic (Montenegrin head coach): "We have played with all our energy but the Tunisian goalkeeper hold a lot of our shots. At the same time our defense did not work well. We congratulate the Tunisian team to this victory".
Zoran Roganovic (Montenegro): "I also congratulate the Tunisian Team to this victory and for the qualification to the next round. It was a clean play. We played better than during the games before. Towards the end of this match we made too many mistakes as we did in the match against Argentina. We have a lack of experience but during the next matches I expect that we will play better."
